"La compañía Capsule Corporation Tokyo, encargada de gestionar la producción de obras del artista, ha informado de que Akira Toriyama, creador de 'Dragon Ball', 'Doctor Slump' o 'Sand Land' (que este mismo mes iba a ver estrenada su adaptación animada) falleció el pasado 1 de marzo debido a un hematoma subdural agudo. Con él se va una auténtica leyenda del manga, y uno de los principales responsables del alcance internacional del cómic japonés."
